More than 100 golfers converged in Boulia on the weekend for the annual Queensland men’s sand green championships.

Players came from all over the state, including the North West, to battle it out for glory over two rounds.

The two Sams, Sam Howse and Sam Wade had to duke it out in a playoff after they were tied on -10 on Sunday.

Howse, who normally tees off at The Brisbane Golf Club, came out on top to add a second sand greens championship to his collection.

Charleville’s Wade has vowed to bounce back next year when the championships move to Alpha.

Mount Coolum’s Daniel Hohn was the B-grade winner after rounds of 80 and 78.

Mount Isa’s Michael Frazer finished fourth in the B-grade nett.

Alex Graham, from Ilfracombe, was the C-grade champion, winning in a playoff against David Bodkin (Quilpie).

Mount Isa’s Mark Isaccson was the C-grade nett runner-up.
