Cloncurry's Kash Harrison-Douglas and Normanton product Terrence Casey-Douglas are off to Brisbane in September after they were recent winners in the regional Queensland Training Awards.

Terrence was named the Harry Hauenschild Apprentice of the Year at the Tropical North Queensland gala event in Cairns, while Kash picked up the award for School-based Apprentice/Trainee of the Year at the NQ ceremony in Townsville.

Both are now in the running for Queensland honours at the State Gala Dinner in Brisbane on September 7.

For Terrence, who moved from Normanton to Cairns to pursue a rugby league dream with the Northern Pride, it was recognition of his hard work.

Employed by Outdoor Solutions Queensland, he is completing a Certificate III in Landscape Construction through TAFE Queensland and recently worked as the second-in-charge of a major project in Gordonvale.

As a Northern Pride player, the Normanton product immerses himself in the community as a club ambassador and is often seen teaching the future generation at junior clinics.

Cloncurry State School student Kash made headlines through the ABC’s Landline program for his passion for the aviation industry.

He’s undertaken a Certificate III in Business through Jomera and Martyr Training Services.

While working at Cloncurry Airport, Kash transitioned his part-time job into a school-based traineeship that included aviation electives. The training enhances his skills in ground-handling activities and customer service, which supports his goal to become a commercial pilot.

He even took on a second part-time job to pay for flying lessons.
