Natalie Flecker has told a Queensland radio station that she was “proud” of her stint as CEO of the Mount Isa Rodeo, which went into voluntary administration last year with more than $1 million in unpaid debts.

“Hindsight’s a wonderful thing,” said Ms Flecker when speaking to Ben Dobbin on the Rural Queensland Today program.

“My time with the rodeo is finished and I wish nothing but the best for the community of Mount Isa and the event.

“We delivered a lot of immeasurable outcomes for the Outback and for Mount Isa itself and I am steadfast in being proud of those key achievements.”

The former CEO, who started in the role full-time in Mount Isa before relocating to Brisbane, much to the ire of the community, said she was a “target” for blame.

“I’m the CEO. I’m the easiest target ... and it’s disappointing that I’m being defined by the last 12 months when really I delivered amazing outcomes for the region,” she said.

Ms Flecker is currently the chair of the Outback Queensland Tourism Association and is facing pressure from the membership to resign from the position.

“I believe that I’m the right person to be the chair and I also have the support of the board of OQTA,” she said in the interview.
