Glencore opens up graduate programs for 2026
The mining giant is opening opportunities for graduates to work at their sites across Queensland and NSW.

Two rising stars in the Mount Isa Mines ranks are throwing their support behind Glencore’s graduate programs, which are now open for applications.
Electrical engineer Dilakvin De Silva said it had been a great way to progress his career.
“I joined the program because of the skills you get to learn and the opportunities that this job gives,” he said.
“The work I do actually gets implemented on site.
“The workplace culture is amazing – I see my colleagues socially as well as at work.
“The graduate program really is more than just a career opportunity. It provides many opportunities for great community involvement and to learn new skills.
“Since coming to Mount Isa, I have done heaps of amazing things like starting Muay Thai, learning to DJ, taking up more sporting activities, and joining Mines Rescue.”
Those thoughts were echoed by graduate environmental advisor Sascha Bentley.
“The experience here is truly unique and ever evolving,” she said.
“Every day presents new challenges and opportunities to learn. “One of my favourite parts has been the wet season – getting out into the more remote areas around town, four-wheel driving, and water sampling in the middle of the bush is far from a hard day in the office.”
Glencore said applications were open for its 2026 graduate programs, building exciting and well-paid careers for engineers, environmental scientists, geologists, accountants, and health and safety, human resource and IT professionals.
Since 2020, Glencore has welcomed 620 new graduates into its diverse coal, zinc and copper operations, in locations like Mount Isa, Townsville, Emerald and Tieri in regional Queensland, and Singleton and Muswellbrook in NSW.
Starting in February 2026, the two-year programs will give aspiring professionals a chance to supercharge their careers with one of Australia’s biggest mining companies.
The programs offer a competitive salary and benefits package, hands-on experience and first-class mentoring from some of the industry’s brightest minds.
Stephanie Jabbour, Glencore Zinc’s Pathway Program Coordinator, said that completing one of Glencore’s graduate programs could be life changing.
“Our graduates are supported every step of the way to help build their dream careers,” she said.
“They meet new people, make new friends, expand their knowledge and put into practice what they’ve learnt at university in a supportive environment.
“Glencore is known for providing an excellent training ground for Australian resource industry graduates.
“While we aim to keep as many graduates in the business as we can, we also acknowledge they will have a fantastic jumping off point for wherever they desire to go next.
“The technical and people skills they learn and practice throughout the program stand them in great stead for their whole career.”
Applications for the 2026 graduate program will close on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
