Hughenden Show hurt by sudden cold snap: mayor
Numbers were down at the 141st annual Hughenden Show.

Flinders Shire Mayor Kate Peddle said a sudden cold snap combined with ongoing cost of living pressures saw a decline in attendance at the Hughenden Show at the weekend.
“The show was amazing – I took my family and kids down there for two days in a row so there wasn’t anything I didn’t do twice,” she said.
Cr Peddle said the recent Festival of Outback Skies might have been a little too close to the 141st Hughenden Show.
“There are a lot of family pressures on the cost of living so it’s a pretty big ask to have those events within a month of each other,” she said.
“It is all a hit to the hip pocket when you try to do social things in your community with your family.
“If you’re a warm-bodied person, then it was definitely a bit cooler, windy and drizzly on the Saturday of the show this year. We had rain on the downs, south of Hughenden, so that might have stopped a few people coming into town.”
