Mount Isa Sign On Expo to return next week
Sporting clubs and community groups will use the expo to attract new members in 2025.
Mount Isa deputy mayor Kim Coghlan says the traditional Sign On Expo is a critical event in the city and hopes to see a big turnout next week.
The 2025 Sign On Expo is being held at the Mount Isa Mines Entertainment Centre at Buchanan Park, on Saturday, February 1 from 9am to noon. Entry is free.
A popular annual event, the expo showcases Mount Isa sports clubs, community groups, and organisations.
“It’s so important for all of those sporting and community groups to get out there and let the public know what’s available in Mount Isa,” Cr Coghlan said.
“It’s really important to the new people coming to town to try and navigate where they want their children to go talk to these organisations face-to-face.”
Cr Coghlan said it also gave the groups an invaluable opportunity to boost their membership as well as increase residents’ awareness about their events, competitions, and activities.
Attendees can find out what’s on offer in the Mount Isa community, explore their options, and try out new recreational opportunities.
There’s something for people of all ages.
It’s also ideal for those businesses and organisations that support or complement sporting clubs and activities – such as sports suppliers, physiotherapists, podiatrists and uniforms suppliers – to increase their local exposure.
The event regularly attracts between 50 and 60 stallholders each year, covering just about every sporting code in Mount Isa.
“It is one of the best ways to put your name down and get involved, get active, have fun, and make new friends,” Cr Coghlan said.
“A good example would be the Air Force Cadets. They were there at last year’s expo and I didn’t even know they were so big in Mount Isa. So it’s perfect for some groups with a smaller profile.”
There will also be food and drinks stalls, and live performances and demonstrations on the day.
