Social transition strategy is on the horizon: Glencore
Expect the company's detailed document to be released in the coming weeks.

Glencore is yet to release its social transition strategy that will detail its planned response to the expected community and workforce impacts from the closure of its underground copper operations this year.
The mining giant is also yet to brief Mount Isa City Council on the contents of its social transition report, which is expected to include a range of local projects that will promote community wellbeing.
At its mid-2024 community update, Glencore claimed the report would be completed in October.
However, a Glencore spokesperson said the scope of the initial plan was expanded following stakeholder consultation.
“The final social transition plan is currently under internal review and will be presented to key stakeholders in the coming weeks,” the spokesperson said.
The council is also keen to secure a parcel of land from Glencore for The Australian Critical Minerals Industrial Precinct.
Glencore said the council had been provided with a letter of “in-principle” support for the TACMIP land.
However, it is understood the specific details regarding the transfer of ownership for the proposed lease land area bordering George Fisher Mine it yet to be agreed on.
Mayor Peta MacRae said the details of the land agreement were important to secure funding.
“There are a number of items that need to be workshopped to ensure all risks and logical steps are well considered given the proximity to our operation,” the Glencore spokesperson said.
Cr MacRae said she hoped to work with Glencore to secure the land.
“We are always willing to engage with Glencore about our projects,” she said.
